Stop me if you've heard this one: a Frenchman, a New Zealander and an Argentinian walk into a bar. No, it's not the start of a bad joke, it's the start of a rock & roll band.
Introducing…Dead Silent Film Stars!
Dead Silent Film Stars are a 3-piece rock band based in Stockholm, Sweden, influenced by the likes of Jimi Henrix, Queens of the Stone Age and The Buzzcocks. Check iTunes and Spotify for their self-produced 'Day of the Dead' EP, and the two new singles 'Blinded and 'What Shall We Do?'. Their self-produced music videos are showing now on YouTube.
The band was founded in 2012 by bass player, singer and songwriter Reuben Keeling. Reuben's showmanship on stage brings an engaging energy to every live performance. Previously a regular on the New Zealand music scene, Reuben moved to Stockholm and began his search for new partners in crime.
When Reuben met drummer Lionel Cayla and the two instantly clicked over their shared appreciation of hip hop and alternative music. Originally from France, Lionel earned his reputation playing drums and percussion for soul and funk bands in Montpellier, where he developed his unique style and solid rhythmic technique.
In early 2013 guitarist Gabriel Polotto joined the band, bringing his funky playstyle and electrifying solo skills. Before coming to Sweden, Gabriel studied guitar at the Instituto International del Arte in Buenos Aires and spent years touring across Spain and Argentina.
When you see the Dead Silent Film Stars live, expect to be enthralled by their onstage energy and diverse setlist: the raw blues of Blinded, the indie rock What Shall We Do, the melodic ballad Call My Name, the rockabilly hit Low Down Dirty Shame, and the strutting Wild Woman. Don't miss the next show!
